our mission...to provide the best English Bulldog rescue care in Illinois, Southeastern Wisconsin and Northwestern Indiana.
our goal...to reinvent English Bulldog Rescue in our service area and provide the best outcomes and experiences for the bulldogs in our care, for our adoptive homes and for our volunteers.
of our officers are members of the Bulldog Club of America Rescue
Network (BCARN). Our leadership team has over 50 aggregate years of
rescue experience and currently cares for 22 bulldogs as personal pets.
our philosophy...we walk our talk when we say Adopt-Don't Shop. We do not buy bulldogs for our program from private individuals, breeders or at auction. Bulldogs are surrendered to our care by owners, shelters, legal authorities and puppy mills at no expense to rescue or our donors.
our plan...please read our Surrender, Adopt and Volunteer pages to learn more about how adoptaBull is reinventing English Bulldog Rescue for our clients and supporters.

adoptaBull Lost a Dear Friend This Week
We are sad to announce that Robert James Dawson “Bob the Hawk,” 72 years old of Lake Villa, IL
passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on July 21,
2015. Bob was husband to our volunteer and Director Linda Dawson. The Dawson's have been Bulldog owners for many years and were the among the early pioneers of English Bulldog Rescue in Illinois and Wisconsin. Most recently, the Dawson's opened their home to Mitch from adoptaBull and as you can see from the picture above it was a wonderful match for both Bob and Mitch.
Bob spent his career as an instructor of sociology at the College of
Lake County. He also loved the music scene and played the saxophone in
many local bands spanning a wide genre of music, including blues, rock,
and jazz. Since retirement, Bob also owned and operated Hawkeye
Saxophone Works where he repaired woodwind instruments.
Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda; his children, Michelle
(Frank) Cunningham of Zion, IL and Edward of Lake Villa, IL; his sister,
Meredith (the late Jack) Kinnel; a niece, Kathy Peters and her husband
Bob Kral and a nephew, Russell (Elisabeth) Kinnel.
